# Yelp Check for Me and Smart Lead Reply: Availability, Pricing and Limits

Yelp is adding restaurant-calling agents and automated lead qualification, but the rollout dates and handoffs matter as much as the AI.

Yelp announced new AI calling and lead-response tools on October 20. Check for Me will call restaurants about wait times, while Smart Lead Reply will qualify service inquiries for $30 per month. Both have staged rollouts, alongside new OpenTable booking features in Yelp Assistant.

The useful change is how much of a local-service transaction can happen inside the discovery product. Someone looking for dinner needs a current answer about availability. A plumber receiving a request needs enough detail to decide whether the job is suitable. These are different tasks, but both sit between finding a business and actually becoming its customer.

## How Yelp Check for Me works

According to Yelp's [fall release announcement](https://blog.yelp.com/news/fall-product-release-2026/), a user supplies party size and a phone number, then the agent calls an eligible restaurant and texts back the wait estimate. The announced rollout is in the coming months, for U.S. users on iOS where walk-ins are possible. It should not be described as available at every restaurant today.

**A wait-time answer is not a reservation.** It helps with a decision at that moment; it does not establish that a table will remain available when someone arrives. That is an important boundary for any assistant turning information into a real-world plan.

Yelp also announced OpenTable reservations through Assistant on iOS, with confirmation and changes handled by OpenTable. These booking and calling flows solve different problems. A reservation uses available inventory; a call asks a business for information that may not be exposed through a booking system.

## Smart Lead Reply pricing and rollout

Smart Lead Reply is scheduled to start rolling out in November, at $30 per month for eligible Request a Quote businesses. Yelp says it can answer questions, collect job details and share a business's scheduling link. Owners can configure services, pricing and conversational preferences, then review conversations in their Yelp inbox.

The announcement does not establish a measured conversion lift or a guarantee of additional booked work. A quick response can remove delay, but the quality of the questions and the accuracy of the business information still determine whether that response is useful.

For a service business, the first evaluation should be quite practical: did the conversation collect the information needed to accept or decline the job? A fast reply that misses the service area, project type or scheduling constraint simply moves the work to a later stage.

## Existing lead systems still matter

The new AI tool arrives alongside integrations with business software. [Jobber's current integration guide](https://help.getjobber.com/en/articles/connect-yelp-leads-to-jobber/) says Yelp leads can become clients and requests in Jobber. Availability starts with its Core plan in the United States and Canada, and requires a claimed Yelp business with Request a Quote enabled.

Yelp's [partner integration documentation](https://docs.developer.yelp.com/docs/partner-integration-guide) distinguishes two-way replies inside a partner's inbox from links that take the professional back to Yelp. An integration that imports a lead should therefore not automatically be interpreted as complete conversational control from every connected product.

This distinction is easy to lose in an AI launch. Qualifying the inquiry, storing it in the business's system and confirming an appointment are separate steps. Businesses should check where the record lives and who is responsible for the next action before assuming the entire process has been automated.

## What changed from the existing assistant

Yelp's [Assistant support page](https://www.yelp-support.com/article/What-is-Yelp-Assistant?l=en_US) already describes answers grounded in business information and reviews, plus quote requests for eligible service businesses. The October release builds on that earlier discovery and inquiry workflow rather than introducing Yelp's first AI assistant.

The difference is a tighter connection between an answer and the next useful action. That can reduce the number of handoffs a customer makes, but it also makes the boundary of each action more important. A recommendation, a phone call and a confirmed booking should remain clearly distinguishable in the interface.

For founders building local-service AI, the interesting test is whether these tools reduce abandoned requests without creating more follow-up work for staff. Measure completed, suitable appointments and unresolved conversations, rather than treating a higher count of automated messages as the outcome.
