# Pika for ChatGPT: Creative Tools, Timeline Editing and Credits

Pika brings its creation library and visual editing controls into ChatGPT, while generation still runs on Pika credits.

Pika announced a ChatGPT plugin extension on October 16 that brings image, video and audio tools into the conversation and a visual side panel. Users can generate assets, revisit their Pika library and edit a timeline without moving the brief into a separate creative workspace.

The useful change is continuity. A conversation can now contain both the instructions for an asset and the controls used to revise it.

## What Pika adds to ChatGPT

Pika's [official announcement](https://x.com/pika_labs/status/2111165556539957254) describes interactive tool options, visual presets and generated content inside the chat. An expanded plugin window provides more room for visually led work.

The integration also connects the creation library. Pika says existing assets can be viewed and used from the plugin, while work created through ChatGPT is saved back to that library. That makes an earlier generation a starting point for the next request rather than something the user has to find and upload again.

This is an integration with Pika's creative platform. The announcement does not introduce a new image or video model, and it does not mean ChatGPT itself performs every generation.

## How the timeline changes editing

The [timeline announcement](https://x.com/pika_labs/status/2111165571429732395) says users can ask ChatGPT to adjust timing, regenerate clips and add transitions, effects and music. Those operations matter because producing an individual clip is only one part of making something usable.

Consider a short product video. The first result may have the right visual style but spend too long on the opening shot. A timeline gives the user a concrete sequence to discuss and adjust. The next instruction can concern the length of that shot or the transition into the next one, rather than describe the entire video again.

**The practical test is how well revisions preserve the parts that already work.** An interactive timeline makes that easier to inspect, but it does not by itself establish reliable edits or consistent characters across generations. The launch materials provide examples, not a controlled evaluation of those outcomes.

## How to install Pika for ChatGPT

Pika's [setup page](https://pika.art/mcp/chatgpt) directs users to install the plugin, sign in to Pika and authorize the connection. Installation alone does not start a generation.

The [ChatGPT directory listing](https://chatgpt.com/plugins/pika) includes guided tools for product ads, headshots, short films, photo animation, relighting, lip-sync and soundtracks. Users can choose an app or describe the intended result, then supply photos or clips and continue from earlier outputs.

This is advertised as an available integration rather than a waitlist. The public listing is visible, but plan and regional eligibility should be checked in the user's account. No authenticated generation was tested for this article.

## Pika credits and the launch offer

Generations use Pika credits. Its setup FAQ says the plugin shows an estimated cost before generating by default and follows account permissions and spending preferences. A ChatGPT subscription should therefore not be treated as an unlimited Pika generation allowance.

Pika is also advertising **250 bonus credits after the first plugin generation**. That condition matters: installing the plugin is not the qualifying event. The launch page does not specify a universal number of videos that those credits will buy.

There is also a catalogue inconsistency worth avoiding. The page headline says 55-plus models, while its FAQ and launch thread say more than 100. A buyer should check the model choices exposed by the relevant tool instead of treating either headline count as a precise entitlement.

## What to check before using client assets

The directory disclosure says ChatGPT may share relevant chats and memories with Pika to provide context, subject to Pika's terms and privacy policy. Teams using unreleased product footage or client material should review that connection before uploading it. Keeping the interface inside ChatGPT does not remove the additional service from the workflow.

For founders and small creative teams, the attraction is a shorter path from a written brief to a revisionable asset. The more important measure will be the cost and effort required to reach an approved result, including the generations that were discarded along the way.
