# Cohere North Adds PitchBook: Access, Setup and What Changes

PitchBook data can now sit beside internal company documents in North, but the connector still depends on the licenses and permissions behind the answer.

Cohere added the PitchBook Data Premium Connector to North on October 26. Eligible customers can use private-market data in the same AI workflows as their internal documents, reducing the copying between research tools and the memos, briefings and analyses built from that research.

For a corporate development team, the useful change is fairly specific. A question about a potential acquisition can draw on external company data and internal strategy in one workspace. The team still has to decide whether the answer supports a sensible decision.

## Who can use PitchBook in North?

[Cohere’s announcement](https://cohere.com/blog/pitchbook-integration) says the connector is available to North customers with an active PitchBook license and single sign-on enabled. An administrator turns it on through the organization’s connector settings, after which users authenticate with their existing access.

**This is bring-your-own-license access, not a free PitchBook subscription bundled into North.** The launch announcement does not specify a separate connector price. Teams should confirm their commercial terms rather than infer that adding the connector removes existing data costs.

North is Cohere’s ready-made enterprise AI application, rather than simply a model endpoint. Its [platform documentation](https://docs.cohere.com/v1/docs/welcome) describes an assistant that works with connected data, documents, agents and automations. The PitchBook launch adds a data source to that application; it does not announce a new general-purpose financial model or API.

## What the connector can retrieve

[PitchBook’s integration page](https://pitchbook.com/premium-connectors/cohere?utm_campaign=partnership&utm_content=q4_2026_cohere&utm_medium=display&utm_source=outreach) describes access to company, deal, fund and investor information, alongside market benchmarks. It also says figures carry citations and that access follows the organization’s existing entitlements in PitchBook and North.

The practical workflow could be a target-company memo that combines financial information with the buyer’s internal priorities. Instead of manually moving a table into a document and then asking an assistant to explain it, the data can become an input to the work itself.

That makes the quality of the question more important. A comparison between companies still needs a consistent reporting period, currency and definition of the metric being compared. A cited number can be accurately retrieved and still be inappropriate for the comparison someone has asked for.

## What citations do and do not establish

Citations give a reviewer a route back to the evidence. They do not establish that an inference, valuation comparison or recommendation is sound. A memo needs a clear separation between a retrieved fact and the conclusion drawn from it.

The connector also preserves a familiar constraint: users can reach only the data their accounts are licensed to access. It does not make the full underlying database available to every employee who can open North.

For a team trying this, the first useful test is an existing research task with a known result. Check whether the answer uses the right entities and periods, whether the citations support each number, and whether a differently permissioned user sees the appropriate information. Faster drafting is valuable only if it leaves review manageable.

The more interesting measure will be how much reconstruction disappears between finding evidence and using it. If analysts spend less time moving data and more time checking the assumptions behind a decision, this connector has done something useful.
