Claude for Financial Advisors Expands With MSCI, CAIS and 55ip Connectors

The October partner announcements add portfolio data and specialised analysis, but access still depends on provider entitlements and rollout details.

MSCI, CAIS and J.P. Morgan Asset Management's 55ip published Claude for Financial Advisors announcements on October 27. The additions cover market and portfolio data, private investment information and tax-aware transition analysis. They expand the information advisors can work with in Claude, rather than introduce a new Claude model.

Claude for Financial Advisors originally launched in September. The news here is the partner-specific integration detail, not a fresh launch of the overall product.

What the connectors add

ProviderAnnounced capabilityImportant access distinction
MSCIIndexes, private-market benchmarks and portfolio analyticsAvailable to eligible clients under existing data entitlements and applicable AI terms
CAISClient-specific alternative investment information through CAISeyAn expansion of CAIS's existing work with Claude, not its first integration
55ipActiveTax-powered portfolio transition analysisAnnounced integration; its release mixes present and future availability language

MSCI's announcement describes access to index performance, constituents and methodology, along with private-market benchmarking and portfolio risk information. It explicitly ties access to a client's existing MSCI entitlements and AI Contract Supplement. Connecting Claude does not create a licence to every MSCI dataset.

CAIS's new connector brings alternative investment details into advisor workflows. Examples include capital calls, private investment positions, unfunded commitments and repurchase windows. CAIS says this follows its initial Claude integration in May, which already covered fund data and portfolio insights.

55ip's announcement describes personalised, tax-aware transition scenarios using its ActiveTax technology. Its headline bullets say the technology is available, while the main text says it will be brought into Claude through a connector. Firms should confirm their own access and rollout status with the provider rather than assume immediate universal availability.

Why connectors matter more than another chat interface

A useful preparation workflow needs both the question and the right records. An advisor asking about a client's private investments needs the relevant positions and obligations, not simply a general explanation of private markets.

These integrations address different parts of that problem. Portfolio data supplies context, benchmark data supports comparison, and a specialised analysis engine provides a calculation. Putting those steps in one conversation could reduce the work of moving between systems.

The important word is “could”. The announcements establish product capabilities, not independent measurements of time saved or decision quality. They also do not establish that a single connector covers every data source an advisory firm uses.

What firms should test before broader use

A sensible evaluation would start with a known case and compare the connected result with the source system. Can the advisor identify which account and period each number refers to? Are missing records clearly distinguished from zero values? Can the output be reviewed without rerunning the entire investigation manually?

Data entitlements deserve the same attention as answer quality. Access to a conversational interface and permission to retrieve a particular dataset are separate conditions. So are retrieving information, running an analysis and taking an action.

The opportunity is to make preparation and review less fragmented. The standard should remain a result that an advisor can trace and check, rather than a fluent answer that hides the systems and assumptions underneath it.
